    HVAC Design Ventilation

What is HVAC without proper ventilation? HVAC is more than just moving air, it involves cleaning, controlling and many other aspects.

Ventilating is the process of changing or replacing air to control temperature. Ventilation is also used to remove moisture, dust, airborne bacteria, odors, smoke, carbon dioxide, and to replenish oxygen. Ventilation includes exchanging the air to the outside and circulating the air within the building. Ventilation is one of the most important factors for maintaining acceptable indoor air quality in buildings.

Mechanical ventilation is provided by an air handler and is used to control indoor air quality by eliminating excess humidity, odors, and contaminants through replacement with outside air. Humid climates require more energy to remove excess moisture from ventilation air.

Natural ventilation is the ventilation of a building with outside air without the use of mechanical systems. It can be achieved with windows that open, as well as other methods. Air-side economizers perform the same function as natural ventilation, but use mechanical systems with fans, ducts, dampers, and control systems to bring in and distribute cool outdoor air when needed.

All HVAC system, including ventilation systems, should be designed for easy access and maintenance. Proper operation and maintenance of HVAC systems requires that units, controls, fans, ductwork, and piping are all easily accessible and properly labeled. Accurate labels, placed in the proper locations, provide important information that assists workers in the proper operation and maintenance of HVAC systems. Industrial Safety Solutions offers durable labeling tape in all colors and sizes, plus printer packages that ship complete with the software needed to help you quickly and easily create the quality custom labels you need.
