Thermal Print Head
A thermal print head is a core component to any thermal transfer printer.
The thermal print head uses a matrix of heated points to transfer ink onto a vinyl label. As the vinyl passes through
the thermal transfer printer, the print head heats up individual points
an embeds the ink, creating a completed label in seconds.
Thermal print heads usually range from 200 to 300 dots per inch (DPI). A thermal print head is the most complex
single component in a thermal printer, and is the most expensive part. Thermal print heads can be replaced, and with any
quality company, come with a warranty.
Regular maintenance can keep a thermal print head working properly. To clean a thermal print head use cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol, rubbing
gently across the thermal print head in a single swiping motion. Always make sure the print head is dry and free of lint or other debris before
using. To help keep your thermal print head operating its best, make sure your vinyl is clean as well.
